About this Project

Hamilton Port Authority Backflow Installation

Hamilton’s Port is the largest port in Ontario and one of the busiest of all the Great Lakes, hosting 700 vessels a year, 12 million tons of cargo (90% of this is from the Steel and Agriculture Industries). Hamilton’s port has a huge economic impact contributing to 38,000 jobs and $6 billion in economic activities across Agri-food, Clean Tech, Manufacturing and Steel. The Hamilton Port Authority, mandated by the Canada Marine Act, is responsible for the operation of the Port.

Mattina Mechanical Limited was engaged by the Hamilton Port Authority to install a 10” backflow preventer and meter on a water service that fed several buildings and clients on Port Authority land. This project included coordination with the City of Hamilton, Port Authority clients and multiple sub-trades. Due to the size of the piping, devices and the outdoor installation location, the entire assembly was carefully measured, calculated and then fabricated in our shop to ensure it fit the footprint of the heated enclosure provided to house it.
